Taking big baby steps...

I'm going on the offensive. I should probably discuss this with my instructor first, but right now I am increasing the number of my writing submissions. It occurred to me that I will only be in the program for a little amount of time and I should get as much critique as I can get. Today I sent in a free writing exercise for her to review. I hope it's okay. I'm sure I'll hear about it's not.

I also ordered my first set of submission guidelines from a children's magazine. I'm very excited and can't wait to get start submitting stories. I need to flex those writing muscles. Let the work begin.

Still trying to establish a routine so far. Right now I am dedicating my evening time to writing. About an hour every night? Let see how that works out.

I'm so excited!

Hi Jane Doe! Molly Mom here, thanks for visiting my blog. Here's my best advice to the novice writer -- join a critique group. There are all kinds -- online and face-to-face. Long after that class is finished your critique group will be with you encouraging you one, helping you with craft. Don't shy away from critique groups with unpublished writers. Both of my critique groups were totally unpublished when I joined them. We now have at least a hundred books and a couple hundred articles collectively. It's helpful to take classes and sometimes editorial services seeking is a good idea. In terms of work ethic. Be about the writing. Write every day (or most days.) Set reasonable goals. Enjoy the journey. All best.
